Named after the heroic English Admiral who was resident in the house during the Anglo-Dutch War (1665-1674), and who died in the battle of Sole Bay, which took place just off Southwold on the 28th May 1672.
THE HISTORY
A beamed room in the oldest part of the house, with a king size Hypnos bed, 30 inch televsion with digital channels, and minibar. Sumptous fabrics from Zoffany or Designers Guild set off the white bed linen.
The “wow” factor of this room is provided by the ensuite bathroom. A double ended slipper bath set on a plinth in front of the original fireplace dominates the room, the original 12 inch elm floorboards and beamed ceiling contrast with modern design classics such as the Eileen Grey coffee table.
